Why did I choose my major?

When I was a child I liked to create things, build toy cities, build robots, I was fascinated by making models for school, I dreamed of being an architect or something related. When I was older, I realized that I was good at math, so I was very determined to study civil engineering or construction. Finally I did not choose any.

In high school I found myself with the humanities and from that moment I did not separate myself from it. I really enjoyed studying history, grammar and talking about politics. My tastes from child to teenager changed a lot, so I was hoping to study something related to communication, languages or politics. My options were to study Literature, Law or Journalism ... and well, journalism won. Why?

I think that communicating makes sense and journalism has the characteristic of showing different realities. As far as I'm concerned, journalism in Chile needs changes, it needs to be more independent and an improvement in the "press law" that protects journalists and the media from censorship, conflicts of interest and attacks. I like reportage and written journalism and I would like to travel the world showing its different realities. My experience at the university has been good, since 2019 I met my colleagues ICEI faculty, I made good friends who ended up in good trips, good parties, good projects. I look forward to returning to campus to enjoy the tools provided by the university and its wonderful community.
