Journalism connects the world The reasons that encouraged me to study journalism were many, some of them are communicating ideas, reporting events, interviewing figures from all areas of society, etc. When I think of becoming a journalist, I see myself traveling, writing, documenting and criticizing. This with the goal of showing different realities, discovering new stories and telling them to those who want to hear them.   Journalism benefits the world by informing about events that happen around us, so society knows what is going on. It also investigates unsolved or forgotten cases, delivering justice. It also shows different realities and opinions that facilitate the creation of a more diverse and pluralistic world.   Journalism has the ability to connect the world, a much needed skill in a world that seems increasingly separated. It also has the ability to provide a space for the voices of minorities that often go unheard, which is beneficial for everyone in...

When I was a child I liked to create things, build toy cities, build robots, I was fascinated by making models for school, I dreamed of being an architect or something related. When I was older, I realized that I was good at math, so I was very determined to study civil engineering or construction. Finally I did not choose any.   In high school I found myself with the humanities and from that moment I did not separate myself from it. I really enjoyed studying history, grammar and talking about politics. My tastes from child to teenager changed a lot, so I was hoping to study something related to communication, languages or politics. My options were to study Literature, Law or Journalism ... and well, journalism won. Why?   I think that communicating makes sense and journalism has the characteristic of showing different realities. As far as I'm concerned, journalism in Chile needs changes, it needs to be more independent and an improvement in the "press law" th...
